Most people want to live independently for as long as they can. They may need some help to live safely. For example, they might have signs of dementia.
Dundee has started to use Just Checking to help people live safely. This is only done with their permission, and everything is confidential.
Just Checking monitors the movements people make in their homes. Sensors help clinicians and care staff understand how well people are managing. There are no cameras or microphones, just sensors. Normally the sensors are there for up to four weeks.
Having this information means care managers can give people the care they need. That could include social care officers helping them dress or bathe. The community alarm service might fit safety devices.
Using Just Checking can help people come home from hospital, and stay out of residential care. You can find out more information on the Just Checking website
